About Imua
Imua Fishing Charters is a locally-owned and operated fishing charter based out of Nawiliwili Small Boat Harbor in Lihue, Kauai. Born and raised in Hawaii, Captain Ikena has always had a deep passion for fishing. With a commercial fishing background in Hawaii, Washington and Alaska, Ikena and his team have the experience and knowledge to make sure you get the big catch!
Departing From Nāwiliwili Small Boat Harbor
Departing from Nāwiliwili harbor, we will start fishing immediately. Just 10 minutes out of the harbor we can start fishing our first drop off of the island. Your captain and crew will fill you in on the methods of fishing being used, brief you on the tackle and how to safely use them, and explain some of the environmental signs that we look for that can lead us to good fishing. Whether it be looking for seabirds feeding, finding debris floating on the water, or just plain getting lucky, we invite all our guests to participate in the “hunting” as well as the “fishing”.
When fishing with Imua Fishing Charters Kaua’i, we will use different methods of fishing based on the seasons, weather patterns, and tidal movements. Our captain and crew definitely want to catch fish just as much, or maybe a little more than you do. Some of the methods of fishing we use are trolling, live bait, chunk bait, bottom fishing and deep jigging. We will always pick the method of fishing that is most productive for your trip. If you wish to use a particular method of fishing, or target a certain species of fish, it is best to book a private charter and consult with your captain. This way we can customize your experience and tailor the trip to meet your needs. On shared trips, the captain and crew will select the best method of fishing to suit the group as a whole.
